In Which Anna Is Actually Correct

If you've ever seen Frozen 2, you know the song where Anna's sobbing in a cave. (If you haven't seen it, I'm not sure I'd advise it.) The song is called The Next Right Thing, and basically, it's her figuring out how to deal with her grief and pain, and the feeling like she's got nothing left to live for.

Now, I don't like much of Frozen 2, and I would say that I disagree with portions of it. (That being said, I've only seen it about twice.) I would even say that I dislike this song.

I won't look too far ahead

It's too much for me to take

But break it down to this next breath

This next step

This next choice is one that I can make...

Then I'll make the choice...

And do the next right thing.

(And yes, I did look that up. Don't worry, I don't have it memorized.)

Although the song is cliché and somewhat cheesy...maybe Anna's hit on something after all.

You see, I think we've all got those weeks where it's just too much. It's not easy to keep going when you have a hundred things on your to-do list, and will have another hundred tomorrow, and again and again for the foreseeable future. Sometimes, you just want a break. And that's okay. But in the end, you have to get up and cross off those tasks. Life keeps moving whether you're productive or not, and it certainly pays to be productive.

I've been learning a lot about glorifying God in the mundane recently. And with my restless heart, it's been hard to keep myself planted, enjoying what Yahweh has given me here and now. I want to go lots of places and do lots of things for God! And while that's the attitude we should have towards God's calling...sometimes he tells us to wait.

And most of the time, that's not at all what we'd like to hear.

1 Corinthians 10:31 says, "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." We can do everything to the glory of God. That next thing on your to-do list? Do it to his glory.

Frozen 2 is not pointing to Jesus. I would even suggest that it points us away from a Christian mindset. But to "break it down to this next breath/this next step/this next choice" is something that we can continually remember on our walk. Because the big things in life aren't the only things that count. (Not that God's got a tally of your good deeds, but that's a blog post for a different day.)

So when you're weary and burdened? Take a breath. Then get up again, and glorify God with the next right thing.

Toodeloo, friends!

Hi Lily! How has your week been?

Interesting point on Anna's song (personally, not my favorite of hers. It kinda seemed out of character for her.) But yes and amen to glorifying God in even the small things! Sometimes it is hard to wait when you want to do so much. But He has a plan and we just have to trust it.

Ah, glad to hear! I've been busy, but good. Trying to get some spring cleaning done *glances at unorganized story files and notes* Hehe, at least the desk is somewhat clean XD.
